NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF POSTAL SUPERVISORS

JAMES E. PARKS JR. BRANCH 526

 SEPTEMBER 2025

President’s Message

Welcome members of Branch 526,

Greetings, my fellow NAPS members. Welcome to September 2025. I hope that all is

well with you and your families. The last couple of months have been very busy. The

Postal Service has moved forward with a Reduction In Force (RIF) in mail processing plants. Those affected were sent their letters on August 22, 2025). If you have not done so, please forward your letter to me as Branch President as soon as possible. NAPS cannot assist you if you have not made us aware that you are a RIF impacted employee.

If you are an employee subject to RIF, I hope you have had an opportunity to attend one of the Zoom training classes offered by USPS. The Capitol Area presented a training class via Zoom on completing your eCareer profile. Contact your local or District HR office with any questions. They have a dedicated email address and are your best source of accurate information.

If you know of RIF impacted EAS that have not joined NAPS urge them to sign up now. We can still help them unless they have a case that goes to MSPB. The NAPS Disciplinary Defense Fund (DDF) requires that you be a member for 60 days prior your adverse action to receive representation. For any EAS that are not a NAPS member, encourage them to join our family. Don’t wait until you are facing corrective action to sign up.

If you sign up a new member, NAPS Headquarters will give you $25. New members

help NAPS to stay strong and provide the new members with valuable benefits. NAPS now has over 29,000 plus members. We are the only organization authorized to represent all EAS employees in pay consultations.

Give to SPAC, help NAPS to fight for the rights of our members.

Legislative Update—Harold Wade, Branch 526 Legislative chair

NAPS and other groups were successful in having provisions that would have negatively impacted postal employees removed from H.R. 1, the so-called Big Beautiful Bill. But we must remain alert to the dangers that might be proposed in upcoming reconciliation bills. More restrictions on USPS service and privatization measures are likely to be introduced. Threats to the working conditions and benefits of employees will be advocated. NAPS members must remain in contact with their House member and Senators. Let them know how any cuts in service or changes in benefits would impact you and your families. Voting by mail is also being challenged, despite the relatively low rate of fraud. Keep your elected representatives aware of NAPS legislative priorities. Check the Legislative Action Center at naps.org for more information. And give what you can to SPAC to help NAPS to support candidates that are pro-postal, regardless of political party.
