NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF POSTAL SUPERVISORS
JAMES E. PARKS, JR. BRANCH #526, VIRGINIA DISTRICT—SEPTEMBER 2024 NEWSLETTER
President’s Message, --Lloyd B. Cox, President, James E. Parks, Jr. Branch 526
Welcome members of Branch 526,
Greetings members, now that the Summer is about to end and Fall is in our sites, I hope you are settling in and are preparing for continuing postal changes. The SDOs are opening and growing, and most employees are getting used to having constant changes within our units. Realignment is coming to the Regional Sales units at the District and local territory levels. The USPS is proposing changes to the Human Resources Safety & Occupational Health areas. NAPS Headquarters Leadership has requested to meet to obtain more information about these changes and the impact they will have on the EAS employees. Log on to naps.org, to follow the progress of these two initiatives.
The James E. Parks Jr. branch 526 was well represented at last month’s NAPS National Convention at the Foxwood Resort and Casino in Connecticut. We had several members (delegates) on committees and 526 members chaired both the Resolution and Sargent-At- Arms committees. PMG Louis Dejoy spoke with us on Monday of the convention, and we asked tough questions. Answers were promised, we will see if they come. The entire country is having the same issues with little to no answers on who, what, when or how changes were made, where they can get support and the rational for those changes.
The Executive Board of Branch 526 is considering going back to zoom meetings. For the months of September and November attendance will tell us if we should continue in-person meetings. Please come out and support our branch at in-person meetings. In person meetings ar more conducive to discussions and getting your questions answered. The branch has a $50 drawing at each in-person meeting for those who are in attendance. See you at our in-person meeting on September 19, 2024.
Take time to visit our new 526 branch website https://www.napsbranch526.org. It has been up and running for months. Latest information is continually being added and there is a link to the NAPS national website. We are always looking for more ideas and suggestions.
A reminder that we are no longer mailing our Branch newsletter. The newsletter will be posted on the website and e-mailed to those members who have provided NAPS with their email address. Update your personal email address with me at Lloyd.b.cox@gmail.com. Keep your mailing address current NAPS Headquarters. If you do not get the NAPS National Magazine “The Postal Supervisor,” then your address is incorrect in our database.
Our Branch Meetings are the 3rd Thursday of every other month (the odd months). We have returned to in-person meetings. Meetings will be at the Merrifield Post office, located at 8409 Lee Highway, room 108, at 7 pm. This month’s meeting is on Thursday, September 19, 2024. NAPS will continue to work for you! Come to the Branch meeting and get involved.
If you sign up as a new member, NAPS Headquarters will give you $25. Help yourself and help a co-worker!

Signing up co-workers as NAPS members will help them and help you. NAPS is fighting to improve salaries and working conditions for all EAS employees. We continue to contest the flawed Pay For Performance system that denies EAS employees the compensation they earned. NAPS represents managers, supervisors, and postmasters in pay consultations and in disciplinary defense. NAPS Legislative efforts urge passage of laws that will benefit USPS and its employees. You will receive $25 from NAPS headquarters for every new member you sponsor.
At last month’s NAPS National Convention, Branch 526’s website was awarded third place among all branch websites in the country. The Branch 526 newsletter won an award for best bylined column/editorial.
