NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF POSTAL SUPERVISORS
JAMES E. PARKS, JR. BRANCH 526
MAY 2026
President’s Message
Welcome members of Branch 526,
Greetings my fellow NAPS members. Welcome to May 2026. I hope that all is well with you and your families.
From March 15th – March 18th, Branch 526 delegates represented you at the Legislative Training Seminar in Crystal City. NAPS delegates from Branch 526 joined members of other branches on Capitol Hill, visiting the offices of each Virginia Congressional District and the two Senators. We had the opportunity to tell our House Representatives and Senators how they could help NAPS and USPS. Some of our issues were related to our membership’s needs and survival of USPS. Check the Legislative section of naps.org for more information on legislation that impacts NAPS members.
In the April issue of our NAPS national magazine, The Postal Supervisor, you can read about the Congressional hearing attended by our National President, Ivan Butts, and read his testimony. In the May issue there are photos of NAPS nationwide including Virginia, with photos of our branch meeting with Congress on Capitol Hill. You will read about the issues we presented and our continued work to gain support. When you give to SPAC, you help NAPS bring your issues to Congress. Think about supporting yourself through giving to SPAC.
On an incredibly sad note, we recently lost an active and very capable member of our NAPS family, Harold R. Wade. He was the Branch 526 Legislative Representative and had served for many years as an Advocate for members. He was a supervisor at the Woodbridge SDC (formerly the Prince William Branch), and had previously worked as a supervisor for the City of Alexandria.
Take time to visit our 526 branch website at https://www.NAPSbranch526.org. It has been up and running for months. Updated information is continually being added and there is a link to the NAPS national website. We are always looking for more ideas and suggestions.
As a reminder, we are no longer mailing our Branch newsletter. The newsletter will be posted on the website and e-mailed to those members who have provided NAPS (me) with their personal email address. Update your personal email address with me at Lloyd.b.cox@gmail.com or one of our branch officers. NAPS can’t send branch information and updates to the USPS email.
Our Branch Meetings are normally held on the 3rd Thursday of every other month (the odd months). We have returned to in-person meetings. Unless otherwise announced, meetings will be held at the Merrifield Post Office, located at 8409 Lee Highway, room 108, at 7 pm. Light food is provided starting at 6:30 pm. NAPS will continue to work for you! Come to the Branch meeting and get involved.
If you sign up a new EAS, NAPS Headquarters will give you $25. New members help NAPS to stay strong as well as providing the new members with the benefits of membership. NAPS now has more than 29,000 members.
Lloyd B. Cox, President, James E. Parks Jr. Branch 526
