MINUTES – GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

 

May 16, 2025


Lloyd Cox called the meeting to order at 6:04 pm at the Fairview Park Marriott Hotel in Falls Church, VA. The following officers were present: Lloyd Cox, President; Alice Jackson, VP of Customer Service; Deborah Farmer, VP of P&DC; Junemarie Brandt, Editor and Chief; and Joanne Farmer, Secretary/Treasurer. Committee Chairs: Harold Wade – Legislative; Andrew Martin - Membership; James Reedy – Resolution; Kenneth Marshall - Sergeant at Arms; Deborah Holley – Constitution and Bylaws; and Darcy Driscoll – Benevolence.


The agenda was read, and Bill White motioned to accept the agenda as read with any additional corrections; Darryl Beasley 2nd; motion passed.


The minutes were read, and Junemarie Brandt motioned to accept the minutes as read with any necessary corrections; Alice Jackson 2nd; motion passed.


The Treasury Reports were read, and Junemarie Brandt motioned to table the Treasury report until the next meeting; Bill White 2nd; motion passed.


Lloyd Cox stated that we are going to suspend the Committee and Advocacy Reports.


New Business

The Pennsylvania State Convention is June 6- 8, 2025. Alice Jackson motioned to send the Branch Officers to the Pennsylvania State Convention; Bill White 2nd; motion passed.


The Pioneer Convention is June 12- 15, 2025. Junemarie Brandt motioned to send the Branch Officers to the Pioneer State Convention; Darcy Driscoll 2nd; motion passed.


Advocacy and Board Member Training is from October 26,2025 to November 1, 2025, on the Carnival Sunshine Cruise. Junemarie Brandt motioned to send the thirteen members to Advocacy and Board Members, Training; Kenny Marshall 2nd; motion passed.


Junemarie Brandt motioned to donate ($100 each) to three people (JesChelle, Debrina and Shanell) for helping with and in the Hospitality Room; Darcy Driscoll 2nd; motion passed.


Junemarie Brandt amended motion to donate ($100 each) to four people (JesChelle, Debrina, Shanell, and Aaliyah) for helping with and in the Hospitality Room; Darcy Driscoll 2nd; motion passed.


Lloyd Cox states that the hospitality room is a success, and delegates and hospitality volunteers did a tremendous job. He stated Mr. Park was overwhelmed and incredibly happy and honored with the lifetime achievement award he received and the celebration.


James Parks won the $50 raffle drawing for attending the meeting.


A motion to adjourn was made at 6:28 pm by Kenny Marshall and 2nd by Junemarie Brandt; motion passed.

 

Junemarie Brandt motioned to reopen the meeting at 7:02 at the Fairview Park Marriott Hotel in Falls Church, VA; Bill White 2nd; motion passed.


Lloyd stated the reason we reopened the meeting was to read second and to make the final vote on a proposed change to the Constitution and By-laws.


Proposed change to the Constitution and By-laws – Second Reading


Article XIII Dues and Assessments - Current


Section 1 Membership dues of District Branch 526 shall be $17.00 per pay period and shall be increased by a like amount when National or State per capita tax is increased.


Section 2 Associate membership dues of the District Branch 526 shall be $150.00 annually and shall be increased by a like amount when the National per capita tax is increased.


Proposed Change


Section 1 Membership dues of District Branch 526 shall be $20.00 per pay period and shall be increased by like amount when National or State per capita tax is increased.


Reason: National has increased the Per capita by a total of $4.00.


Section 2 Associate membership dues of the District Branch 526 shall be $200.00 annually and shall be increased by a like amount when the National per capita tax is increased.


Reason: National has increased the Per capita by a total of $4.00. Current dues to $17.00 was a temporary change.


Junemarie Brandt motioned to accept both changes to the Constitution and By-laws, and


Bill White 2nd; the motion passed.


A motion to adjourn was made at 7:05 pm by Junemarie Brandt and 2nd by Kenny Marshall; motion passed.
