MINUTES – GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING-ZOOM

Thursday, September 15, 2022

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Lloyd Cox via Zoom.  The following officers were present: Lloyd Cox, President; Alice Jackson, VP Customer Service; Deborah Farmer, VP - P&DC; Joanne Farmer, Secretary/Treasurer; Junemarie Brandt, Editor in Chief; Committee Chairs:  Constitution/By-Laws – Deborah Holley; William White – Membership; and Darcy Driscoll – Benevolence; Kenny Marshall - Sargent At Arms; and Harold Wade - Resolutions.

The agenda was read, and Junemarie Brandt motioned to accept the agenda as read; Alice Jackson 2nd; motion passed.

The minutes were read, and Alice Jackson motioned to accept the minutes as read with any necessary corrections; Darcy Driscoll 2nd; motion passed.

The Treasury Report was read, and Darryl Beasley motioned to accept the treasury report with any necessary corrections; Harold Wade 2nd; motion passed.

Old Business:

NAPS National Convention at Hyatt’s Regency in New Orleans from August 7, 2022, to August 13, 2022.  The overall comments about the convention were very enjoyable, well organized, high tech and informative.  Mr. Louis DeJoy, Postmaster General, addressed the supervisors at the convention.  When he answered questions, he was very evasive, or he did not answer at all.  Greg Gray gave an outstanding presentation on the 93% rule.  Our members learned a lot about parliamentary procedures and Branch 526 was well represented on the national convention committees.  Also, Branch 526 Hospitality Room was a success.  Overall, the networking was outstanding.  Junemarie Brandt won one of the newsletter awards.   

Branch 42 having a crab feast fundraiser on September 24, 2022, which we brought 10 tickets, and we have 3 available tickets for any member who want to attend.  If no members volunteered to attend, then the tickets must be paid for by the individuals that could not attend.

New Business:

Deborah Holley stated that Postmaster General DeJoy spoke to the executives about the supply chain in Chicago and that his plan is to place large carrier operations inside Plant Processing Centers which would eliminate unnecessary trips, reduce mail handling, and decrease the time of delivery.  He promises same day delivery, Sunday delivery, and pick up option in every state. 

Lloyd appointed a Nomination Committee for the Election of the offices of : Vice President, Customer Services, Vice President P & DC, and Secretary/Treasurer:  William White was selected as  Chair, with Kenneth Marshall and James Reedy.

The Eastern Region Cabinet Meeting (ERCM) is in January 12 – 15, 2023 in Atlantic City at Tropicana Resort Casino.

The following members are eligible for the ERCM and CASSC for 2023: Rose Allen, Earl Baylor, Darryl Beasley, Junemarie Brandt, Lloyd Cox, Darcy Driscoll, Joanne Farmer, Deborah Farmer, Deborah Holley, Alice Jackson, Kenneth Marshall, Andrew Martin, Yvette Merkison, James Parks, James Reedy, Lia Tyler, Harold Wade, William White.

The following members will attend the ERCM:  Earl Baylor, Darryl Beasley, Junemarie Brandt, Lloyd Cox, Darcy Driscoll, Deborah Farmer, Joanne Farmer, Deborah Holley, Alice Jackson, Kenneth Marshall, Andrew Martin, Yvette Merkison, James Reedy, and Harold Wade.

Rose Allen motioned to send the twelve (12) delegates to the ERCM; Bill White 2nd the motion; motion passed.

The next Branch Meeting is November 17, 2022 at 7:00 pm via Zoom.

Motion to adjourn was made by Harold Wade at 8:37pm and 2nd by Darryl Beasley; motion passed.
