Thursday, March 16, 2023
Lloyd Cox called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm via Zoom. The following officers were present: Lloyd Cox, President; Alice Jackson, VP Customer Service; Deborah Farmer, VP -P& DC; Joanne Farmer, Secretary/Treasurer; and June Marie Brandt, Editor in Chief; Committee Chairs: Deborah Holley - Constitution/By-Laws; Martin Andrews - Membership; Kenny Marshall - Sargent at Arms; Harold Wade – Legislative; James Reedy – Resolutions, and Darcy Driscoll –.Benevolence.
The agenda was read.
The minutes were read, and Alice Jackson motioned to accept the minutes as read with any necessary corrections; Earl Baylor 2nd; motion passed.
The Treasury Report was read, and Alice Jackson motioned to accept the treasury report with any necessary corrections; Darryl Beasley 2nd, motion passed.

Old Business
This Advocacy Training is not part of Capitol Atlantic Advocacy Training in October. This training is on March 31, 2023, and April 1, 2023, in Linthicum, MD.
We have three new advocates attending (Shawn Stanard, Rose Allen, and Andrew Martin) and the Officers. We have a total of eight members attending.
The following members are eligible to go to the CAASC Convention: Rose Allen, Earl Baylor, Darryl Beasley, June Marie Brandt, Lloyd Cox, Darcy Driscoll, Joanne Farmer, Deborah Farmer, Deborah Holley, Alice Jackson, Kenneth Marshall, Andrew Martin, Yvette Merkison, James Parks, James Reedy, Lia Tyler Harold Wade, and William White.
Alice Jackson motioned to send 15 (13 members and 2 auxiliaries) to CAASC and Harold Wade 2nd; motioned pass.
New Business
Lloyd Cox welcomes the two new executive board members: Andrew Martin- Membership, and James Reedy - Resolution. Harold Wade will take over the Legislative Chair position.
Career Conference on April 23, 2023, at The Westin Richmond, 6631 West Broad Street, Richmond VA 23230.
William White motioned to refund members in good standing the registration fee with a receiptof the career conference and Deborah Holley 2nd , motioned passed.
William White motioned any Branch 526 member that signed up any employee to Branch 526 be paid $50 once their name appears on the DCO and it was 2nd by Harold Wade. Joanne Farmer made an amendment to William White motion, if a branch 526 member signed up an employee to Branch 526 will get paid $50 once their name will appear on the DCO and this incentive is only for one year (March 16, 2023, to March 15, 2024) and it will be discontinued after March 15, 2024 and it was 2nd by Wanda Burrough; motion passed.
Deborah Holley read the 2nd reading to the proposed changes to the Constitution/Bylaws.
Article VI Funds and Disbursements
Current:
Section 4: Benefits will be provided for all members of Branch 526 and their families for long term illness, the birth of a new baby, adoptions, and death. It shall be the responsibility of the Recreation and Welfare Chair to send flowers and/or contributions as designated by the family of the deceased; the amount not to exceed $85.00. This benefit shall be limited to spouses, children, mother, father, sister, and brother. A card (only) will be sent to all other family members including mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepmother, stepfather, stepsister, stepbrother, etc.
Proposed:
Section 4: Benefits will be provided for all members of Branch 526 and their families for long term illness, the birth of a new baby, adoptions, and death. It shall be the responsibility of the Recreation and Welfare Chair to send a Visa Gift card in the amount of not to exceed $85.00. This benefit shall be limited to spouse, children, mother, father, sister, and brother. A card (only) will be sent to all other family members including mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepmother, stepfather, stepsister, stepbrother, etc.
Alice Jackson motioned to an amendment of the proposed change to Article VI,
Section 4 to give a check for $100 and it was 2nd by Darcy Driscoll.; motioned passed.
Proposed Amended:
Benefits will be provided for all members of Branch 526 and their families for long term illness, the birth of a new baby, adoptions, and death. It shall be the responsibility of the Recreation and Welfare Chair in cooperation with the Secretary/Treasurer to send a check in the amount of $100.
This benefit shall be limited to spouse, children, mother, father, sister, and brother. A card (only) will be sent to all other family members including mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepmother, stepfather, stepsister, stepbrother.
All in favor as stated by the Chair of the Constitution/By-laws of the proposed changes in Article VI, section 4: motion passed.
Lloyd thanked everyone for joining the meeting tonight.
The next Branch Meeting is May 18, 2023, at 7:00 pm via Zoom.
Motion to adjourn was made at 8:07 pm by Harold Wade and 2nd by Darcy Driscoll; motion passed.
