MINUTES – GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING-ZOOM


Thursday, July 20, 2023


Lloyd Cox called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm via Zoom. The following officers were present: Lloyd Cox, President; Alice Jackson, VP Customer Service; Deborah Farmer, VP -P&; DC; Joanne Farmer, Secretary/Treasurer, June Marie Brandt, Editor in Chief.  Committee Chairs: Deborah Holley - Constitution/By-Laws; Martin Andrews - Membership; Kenny Marshall - Sargent at Arms; Harold Wade – Legislative; James Reedy – Resolutions, and Darcy Driscoll – Benevolence. 


The agenda was read, and Alice Jackson motioned to accept the minutes as read with any addition; Rose Allen 2nd; motion passed.


The minutes were read, and Darcy Driscoll motioned to accept the minutes as read with any necessary corrections; Deborah Farmer 2nd; motion passed.


The Treasury Report was read, and Darcy Driscoll motioned to accept the treasury report with any necessary corrections; Alice Jackson 2nd, motion passed.

Old Business


The delegates that went to the Pennsylvania State Convention stated that it was informative and great networking, and they were able to bring back information to share with members.  A written report was submitted.


The Branch 526 website is up and running.


We have four delegates going to the Pioneer Tri-State Convention from July 26 through July 30, 2023.  


New Business


Advocacy Training will be in Maryland on October 5, 6, 7, and 8, 2023.  The following delegates will be attending the training:  Rose Allen, Darryl Beasley, Lloyd Cox, Deborah Farmer, Joanne Farmer, Deborah Holley, Alice Jackson, Kenneth Marshall, Andrew Martin, Shawn Standard, and Harold Wade.  Harold Wade motioned to send 12 delegates to the Advocacy training.  


Deborah Holley amended the motion to accept the 12 members on the list for all members that are qualified and if anyone on the list is not qualified then we go to the exception; James Parks 2nd, motion passed.  Deborah Holley made the motion to accept Shawn Stanard to attend Advocacy Training and James Parks 2nd, motion passed.

Article XIII Dues and Assessments - 

 

Current

Section 1: Membership dues of the District Branch 526 shall be $15.00 per pay period and shall be increased by like amount when National or State per capita tax is increased.


Proposed

Section 1: Membership dues of the District Branch 526 shall be $17.00 per pay period and shall be increased by like amount when National or State per capita tax is increased.


Current

Section 2: Associate membership dues of the District Branch 526 shall be $100.00 annually and shall be increased by a like amount when the National per capita tax is increased.

Proposed


Section 2: Associate membership dues of the District Branch 526 shall be $200.00 annually and shall be increased by a like amount when the National per capita tax is increased.


President Comments: The Postal Service has done two major things: They created a support customer service supervisor for level Postmaster 24s & 26s.  Also, they created supervisors' relief positions.  There is currently a RIF in logistics (transportation). 


Lloyd thanked everyone for joining the meeting tonight.


The next Branch Meeting is September 21, 2023, at 7:00 pm via Zoom.


Motion to adjourn was made at 8:14 pm by Harold Wade and 2nd by Darcy Driscoll; motion passed.
