MINUTES – GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING-ZOOM

Thursday, January 19, 2023

Meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm by Lloyd Cox via Zoom.  The following officers were present: Lloyd Cox, President; Alice Jackson, VP Customer Service; Deborah Farmer, VP - P&DC; Joanne Farmer, Secretary/Treasurer; and Junemarie Brandt, Editor in Chief; Committee Chairs:  Deborah Holley - Constitution/By-Laws; William White – Membership; Kenny Marshall - Sargent At Arms; Harold Wade – Resolutions and Darcy Driscoll – Benevolence.

The agenda was read.

The minutes were read and Alice Jackson motioned to accept the minutes as read with any necessary corrections; Darryl Beasley 2nd; motion passed.

The Treasury Report was read and Alice Jackson motioned to accept the treasury report with any necessary corrections; Harold Wade 2nd, motion

The Eastern Region Cabinet Meeting (ERCM) was held at the Tropicana in Atlantic City, NJ, from January 12 to 15, 2023. We had speakers at the ERCM: National Officers (Ivan Butts, and Chuck Mulidore) and Louis Faiola (650 Mediation).  The overall comments about the cabinet meeting were very enjoyable, well organized passed, and informative.  The networking was outstanding.

Old Business:

Deborah Holley stated 1st reading to the proposed changes to constitution

Article VI Funds and Disbursements

Current:

Section 4:   Benefits will be provided for all members of Branch 526 and their families for long term illness, the birth of a new baby, adoptions, and death. It shall be the responsibility of Recreation and Welfare Chair to send flowers and/or contribution as  designated by the family of the deceased; the amount not to exceed $85.00. This benefit shall be limited to spouse, children, mother, father, sister and brother. A card (only) will be sent to all other family members including mother-in-law, father-in-law, step mother, step father, step sister, step brother, etc. 

Proposed:

New Business:

The following members are eligible to go to the Convention: Rose Allen, Earl Baylor, Darryl Beasley, Junemarie Brandt, Lloyd Cox, Darcy Driscoll, Joanne Farmer, Deborah Farmer, Deborah Holley, Alice Jackson, Kenneth Marshall, Andrew Martin, Yvette Merkison, James Parks, James Reedy, Lia Tyler Harold Wade, and William White.

Legislative Training Seminar (LTS) is March 26 to March 29, 2023 in Arlington VA.    The following members going to LTS:   Junemarie Brandt, Darcy Driscoll, Deborah Farmer, Joanne Farmer, Alice Jackson, Andrew Martin, James Reedy, Lia Tyler, Harold Wade and William White.   Deborah Holley motioned to send the ten (10) delegates to LTS; Bill White 2nd the motion; motion passed.

Mr. Parks motioned a budget for the membership committee be allotted a $1200.00; Williams White 2nd the motion; Mr. Parks withdraw the motioned.

Lloyd thanked everyone for joining the meeting tonight. 

 The next Branch Meeting is March 16, 2023 at 7:00 pm via Zoom.

Motion to adjourn was made at 8:23 pm by William White and 2nd by Harold Wade; motion passed.
